Lawang Sewu (literally means a thousand doors) and was formerly the headquarters of Spoorweg Nederlandsch-Indische Maatschappij (NIS). In 1873 NIS opened the first railway line in the colonies, from Semarang to Solo and Yogyakarta. The head office was designed in the Netherlands in 1903 by J.F.Klinkhamer and B.J.Ouëndeg. First stone was laid in 1904 and the opening made in 1907. This eclectic design have characteristics neorenaisans strong. This is the first modern building in the Dutch East Indies implementing structural adjustment in tropical climates (double facade, lobby-hall open, the depth of which little by transverse ventilation, the optimal location of the sun). Mandala Bhakti Museum

The building is from 1930 and was designed by E. Khür working in Landsgebouwendienst (Department of State Development) and a museum of military struggle. Originally the building was used by the Raad van Justitie. The museum is located at Jl. Soegiyopranoto no. 1 and right across the Tugu Muda. The building is located in the villa built on the orders Zigtrijk Nicolaas Hartingh in 1760. Over the years Zigtrijk used as a resident, until dismantled in 1908 and resident moved into the governor's official residence is now on the west side of the field. The museum there is a lot of documentation and data history of struggle heroes defend the independence of Indonesia and also collect weapons ranging from traditional and modern weapons. Catedral Radunsari Church

The church building was designed in 1926 by architect J.Th. van Oyen and inaugurated in 1928. The church is located at the end of Jl. Pandanaran with Jl. Dr. Sutomo. Colonial-style architecture. In 1937 the church was restored and expansion. This building looks striking with the use of stone plinth and tower gabled roof. In 1940 the official name of the church in the possession of Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary was inaugurated as the cathedral under Mgr.A.Soegijopranoto, S.J. who was then the archbishop of the first in Indonesia.

Tapered shape at the end of this cathedral roof adopts the Meru of Indian architecture. This form is often used in building temples in Bali. Stone wall that wrapped the bottom wall of the building.
